Over 2300yrs ago in the land named Judea, now known as Israel, their ruled a wicked and cruel king named Antiochus. He ruled  Judea with a hand of iron and a heart of stone.

Forcibly making the Jews cast aside their religious beliefs and worship Greek Gods.  Some from fear of the dreadful consequences did as they were ordered.

However young man named  Judah Maccabee refused. He formed a group of followers called The Maccabees.  They fought against the Syrians won back Judea ( Israel) and the temple of Jerusalem.  On winning back the temple, it was cleansed of all impurities. This took 25 days to complete. On the 25th day the eternal flame was lit.  However only 1 small urn of pure untouched oil could be found.  It was thought this would only be enough to burn the eternal flame for but 1 day.

Though a miracle occurred and the  flame burned for eight days. Hence now Chanukah and the festival of lights.

What has this got to do with love you may ask?

Often at this time of year, there are many people whom ask themselves what has happened with my life. Why have things not turned out the way I hoped and sit and wallow and despair.

We all have good times and bad times. Sometimes things can become so awful we may feel like throwing the towel in.

This is when you must not.. but rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Judah Maccabee had a dream and a strong belief and fought for the things he wanted.  His fight was such a huge daunting task. Though he and his army of Maccabees did not give up and won!

So no matter, your problem, fight for what you want and you will receive the happiness you require.

If you are fortunate enough to be in a relationship, never forget to tell the person whom you are with how special they are to you.  Sometimes we forget to express or feelings or are too scared to do so.

When you compare this with Judah and what he went through.  Yes perhaps the  comparison is quite extreme. Though it really is all about fear of winning and losing a battle of such, and every day love & home, work life can be a huge challenge and rather daunting task at times.

To get what you want in life you must never be scared to fight for your dreams, hopes, desires and life's aspirations.

Remember also it is not all about receiving but also giving back and helping others whom are less fortunate.

I do not know if Shadchan ‘s existed over 2300yrs ago, however if they did. I am sure they would be giving the same message as I. Never be scared to fight the big fight for your happiness.

1. Light the Menorah together " Tres Romantic."

2. Make the person in your life aware you care.

3. Include them in  your plans, this will make them feel special, wanted and needed.

4. Buy a romantic gift for that special person in your life
