Open the Staffroom door and spend an academic year in Parkview Behaviour Support Unit as experienced by those who work there. Journey with them through the highs and lows of Ofsted inspections, romances and arson.

A darkly comic play examining the intense relationships that develop when you spend your professional life in close proximity, in an environment that carries an element of risk. With a team that has become a family of necessity, friendships run deep, personalities can clash and flaws are magnified. Staffroom is an unusual play in that the audience takes on the role of the 8th performer.

This piece of new writing from Rachel Creeger of Time2Shine Productions is based on her years of experience working as a School-Home Liaison Officer, Child Protection Specialist and Drugs Worker in Pupil Referral Units across London. Having been grilled for anecdotes at dinner parties ever since she moved into theatre full time, she decided to give people the opportunity to see what happens behind the closed door of the Staffroom. It's not all about the kids, you know.

The play has been developed Sunday Surgery run by MSFT, a monthly workshop for actors, writers and directors which is truly "a jury of your peers". It has also been performed to positive audience feedback in previews, including comments such as "excellent characterisation", "engaging and realistic"

Writer/Director Rachel Creeger is from the Modern Orthodox Jewish community and is, to her knowledge, the only writer from her background creating mainstream theatre in London. She runs a production company which helps community groups to devise original work.
